Privacy Policy
Introduction
Easydict for Windows ("we", "our", or "the app") is an open-source translation and dictionary application. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the app handles and how it is processed.
Data Collection
Easydict for Windows does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to our servers. We do not operate any backend servers or analytics services.
Text You Translate
When you use a translation service (e.g., Google Translate, DeepL, OpenAI), the text you input is sent directly from your device to the respective third-party service provider. Easydict acts only as a client — we do not intercept, log, or store any of your translation content.
API Keys
If you configure custom API keys for translation services, those keys are stored locally on your device only. They are never transmitted to any server controlled by us.
Clipboard Access
If you enable clipboard monitoring, the app reads your clipboard content locally to provide automatic translation. Clipboard content is processed entirely on your device and is not stored or transmitted beyond the translation request.
Third-Party Services
Easydict connects to third-party translation APIs based on your configuration. Each service has its own privacy policy:
We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of any translation services you choose to use.
Local Storage
All application settings, preferences, and history are stored locally on your device. No data is synced to cloud services by Easydict.
Microsoft Store
If you installed Easydict from the Microsoft Store, Microsoft may collect telemetry data as described in their Privacy Statement. This is outside the control of Easydict.
Open Source
Easydict is open-source software. You can review the complete source code at github.com/xiaocang/easydict_win32 to verify our privacy practices.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
